Abstract: After a brief introduction to the "quantization commutes with reduction" credo in symplectic geometry (and what index theory has to do with quantization), I will report on recent results of Paradan and Vergne on the multiplicities of the equivariant index for twisted Spin$^c$-Dirac operators. (In this case, "recent" means that the results appeared on the arXiv the day before the talk.)
