"Valuative Invariants of Matroids"
Time: 10:00
Room: WSC 248
Matroids abstract the notion of independence. The natural question of classification of matroids up to isomorphism leads to the study of matroid invariants. There has been recent interest in understanding those invariants that respect the matroidal subdivisions of the base polytope. We term such invariants as being valuative. We explore the underlying structure of matroid valuations, primarily how a valuation of matroids is determined by the Schubert matroids. We also survey G-invariant, and how it is the universal matroid valuation.
